Neacoryphus bicrucis occurs in the Americas, from southern Canada to tropical South America; reported from Hawaii, where likely introduced. It is usually found in flowerheads in meadows and fields. Red-orange and black, with a black triangular head, and glabrous dorsum; 7-10 mm in length. Reported from a number of different plants, but mostly associated with ragworts (Senecio spp., Asteraceae).
